Synchronized neuronal activity is a characteristic feature of the developing brain. In this project, we investigate how mutual interactions between GABAA receptors and synchronized network activity instruct the maturation of synapses and neuronal circuits in the hippocampus. To this end, we apply a combination of high-resolution optical, electrophysiological as well as opto- and chemogenetic techniques in mouse models in vitro and in vivo.
