The Specialized Information Service Political Science – Pollux www.pollux-fid.de has been online since January 2018. It provides direct access (or access information) to more than 12 million documents. The number of references is to be further increased and new document types added. Its comprehensive range of political science-related resources and the easy-to-use access provided by Pollux have been welcomed by the political science community. The focus of this follow-up proposal of the FID is on the consolidation and further development of the search engine and the other services of the FID. Cooperation within the FID network and the exploration of reuse possibilities are central to this. The research data management activities intensified in the current funding phase will be continued and consolidated. This concerns both the extended access to quantitative social science research data and, in particular, access to qualitative data and its provision. The cooperation with Qualiservice will be continued in order to offer political scientists a subject-specific contact point for archiving, indexing, providing and reusing qualitative research data. The follow-up proposal will cover the following areas: 1) Contents: Expansion and content profiling of the search space with literature and specialist information, in particular intensified of metadata (such as citation data), licensing of relevant content. 2) Information services and infrastructure: Optimization of the search engine, further development of other FID services, expansion of services in the area of text corpora (text and data mining), continuation of the open source publication of tools and software developed in the FID, intensification of the reuse of IT developments with cooperating FID and other partners. 3) Open Science: Promotion and support of Open Access, initiation of a journal flipping pilot project (Diamond Open Access), expansion and consolidation of services in the area of qualitative research data management. 4) Communication and public relations: Getting involved with the professional community, increased differentiation according to target groups in public relations work, participation in conferences and specialist congresses (digital formats & face-to-face events), creation of webinars and video tutorials, user surveys on satisfaction and continuous evaluation of content and services.
