We investigate almost planar compounds where one to three redoxactive centers are connected to a central, likewise redox-active triangular core. Mixedvalent forms, where only part of the redox sites are oxidized to paramagnetic sites, will be investigated with respect to the degree of valence delocalization or electronic bistability by molecular spectroscopy in solution. The behaviour of ensembles of molecules in solution will then be compared to that of individual molecules deposited on surfaces and studied by scanning probe microscopy and spectroscopy. A further point of interest is the coupling pattern of unpaired spins and the magnetic properties of states where several paramagnetic sites are pre-sent within the same molecule.
