The wavelength calibration tests with the Integral Field Spectrophotometer PMAS uses an innovative optical frequency comb source developed at innoFSPEC-AIP. This source comprises a set of equally spaced spectral lines covering the spectral range from 725 to 890 nm and with a mode line separation of 0.8 nm. The comb lines will be scanned over a full mode spacing (0.8nm) being this characteristic unique in the world with this type of instrumentation. By feeding the comb light in the PMAS spectrograph and associating each line with pixels in the spectrograph detector, we will not only calibrate the wavelength response of this unit but also its line-spread-function.
