The extension of the duration of the Emmy-Noether project " Study and control of electronic many-body states in two-dimensional materials" is requested in order to be able to adequately follow the current developments in the research field regarding the fabrication and preparation of the materials under study. Increasingly complex encapsulated two-dimensional nanostructures are planed to be used for the core goals of the project. It will lead to significant improvements in the exciton and charge carrier transport efficiencies, thus greatly enhancing the manipulation and opportunities for external control of the quasiparticles. Preparation of complex samples, their spatially resolved characterization, and their subsequent use in time-resolved microscopy experiments are thus among the most important tasks in the context of the requested extension.
