Freiburg University Library belongs to the great German libraries with notable old holdings of more than 50.000 evidences of imprints of the 18th century in its online catalogue. Klaus Haller (2007) and Reinhart Siegert (2012) mention expressively the holdings of special interest for research in context to the specific catholic traditions in the southwest of Germany, popular enlightenment, the Austrian Forelands, and Switzerland.By digitizing these imprints access will be facilitated decisively for researchers and teachers. By taking part in the project Freiburg University Library – in close cooperation with the other participating partners – is aiming at completing its evidence of printed matter relevant for VD 18 and improving the bibliographic description. The cataloguing of these imprints is the basis of high quality meta and structural data for the retrodigitized editions and their integration into retrodigital libraries and gateways.
