Solid State and Surface Chemistry, Material Synthesis
Term
from 2016 to 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 182849149
The main goal of the A6 project is to create a reliable synthetic pathway for preparative synthesis of helicity pure and defect free SWCNTs from rationally synthesized CNT seeds, which unambiguously dictate the tube’s chirality during the growth. Following the same approach, the synthesis of functional SWCNTs bearing a porphyrin functionality will be further developed. The respective SWCNTs and related functional carbon-based nanostructures are excellent candidates for many nano-technological applications and can be used further for rational construction of subtle architectures. Additionally, the synthesis of highly interesting low band-gap nanographenes will be further developed in the framework of this project. The properties of new materials will be investigated in close collaboration with groups from materials sciences, physical and theoretical chemistry.
