The functional specialisation of subcellular compartments in eukaryotic cells requires the regulated exchange of macromolecules to establish and maintain the specific composition of each compartment. Nuclear pore complexes function as gateways between nucleus and cytoplasm and the nucleoporins interact with soluble transport receptors and cofactors during the transport of molecules and complexes. This project analyses the role of nuclear pore complexes in the remodelling and translocation of macromolecular complexes.
