The project Journal for Media Linguistics (jfml) fills a desideratum in the field of linguistics. Linguistics, so far, lack of a publication format in German or English that assembles subject- specific discussions.Thus, the jfml will help raising the profile of Media Linguistics as adiscipline. Digital open access publications enable the fast and wide distribution of relevant scientific findings. Combining an open peerreviewed scientific journal with Blogstracts that can be commented takes advantage of the innovative potential of digital publishing.Digital and multimodal publishing formats, a transparent open peer review process, and openly accessible articles foster the developmentof scientific communication. The publication process is based on cooperating with a well-established partner in the field of scientificlibrary services and information systems, the University Library of the TU Berlin.
