Final Report Year 2017

Final Report Abstract

The project can be summarized under three main points: 1. Successful synthesis of a ferromagnetic insulator thin film: A comprehensive characterization with state of the art methodology has been conducted and published. 2. Reversible switching of a ferromagnetic insulator thin film via a spin current: Demonstrated and published a first-of-its-kind experiment, where a spin current generated via spin Hall effect successfully controlled and probed the magnetization polarization of a ferromagnetic insulator. 3. Established a new project, which expands on FMR experiments in order to study magnetization dynamics in TmIG/Pt bilayer systems.
