Morphosynthesis of ceramic semiconductor and ferroelectric nanocrystals (A01)

Subject Area Solid State and Surface Chemistry, Material Synthesis
Organic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term from 2016 to 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 268730352

The long-term goal of this project is to learn how the shape of inorganic semiconductor nanocrystals influences the functional properties on a single-particle basis but also collective properties for example in super crystals formed by self-assembly processes. The project continues to synthesize special tailored additives with surfactant design for the face-selective interaction with inorganic surfaces to control the shape of oxidic semiconductors like zinc oxide and to encode their defined self-assembly. The knowledge gained on face-selective interparticle interaction will be exploited for the creation of nanoparticle open framework materials with open porosity by using differently shaped nanoparticles.
