The (re-)production of ethnically coded inequality in educational organizations will be investigated by means of a practice theoretical, methodically plural, longitudinal ethnography. The mechanisms of the (re-)production are presumed to be in pedagogical practices of differentiation specific to educational organizations. Central research questions include: How are organization-specific (ethnicity-relevant) pedagogical practices of differentiation carried out by professionals? How are these manifested in the individual educational careers of the children? How do the children in question experience this subjectively? The project systematically accompanies 28 children with and without migrant backgrounds on their paths from primary school into secondary school. The focus of the investigation will be on the educational organization of the primary school and the childrens crucial transition - in terms of their educational biographies - from primary into secondary school. Longitudinal ethnographical data will be generated. This kind of data, which depicts the educational biographies and careers of the children studied over eight years, does not yet exist in German-language research into education and inequality. It will be possible as the project connects to the project B1 from the SFB 882.
