Project Details
Femtosecond Time-Resolved Soft X-Ray Spectroscopy for an Element Specific Analysis of Complex Materials (A05)
Subject Area
Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term
since 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 278162697
The project aims at understanding of non-equilibrium dynamics of complex materials with coupled electron-spin-nuclear dynamics, which may lead to non-equilibrium phase transitions. Key to the effort is element-specific soft x-ray spectroscopy that probes electron dynamics near a core level absorption edge and nu-clear / lattice dynamics in the extended energy range. These dynamics will be analyzed theoretically by hybrid quantum mechanics / molecular mechanics. The project develops a femtosecond table-top soft x-ray source. Igor Schapiro is a new principal investigator.
