Project Details
Exploring particle-induced excitations in the time domain (C05)
Subject Area
Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term
since 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 278162697
The goal of this project is to investigate the temporal dynamics of processes which are triggered by the impact of an energetic particle (atom, molecule, cluster) onto a solid surface. The generation and relaxation of the resulting, extremely localized non-equilibrium state will be studied by establishing the first pump-probe experiment using an ultrashort ion pulse as a stimulus in combination with laser-based probe techniques to analyze the ion-induced electron and particle dynamics.
