Sensing and signaling integration in the surveillance mechanisms of the spindle position checkpoint (21)

Subject Area General Genetics and Functional Genome Biology
Term from 2016 to 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 201348542

Gislene Pereira (TP21) explores how the spindle position checkpoint (SPOC) senses mis-oriented spindles. The group will follow the hypothesis that the protein kinase Kin4 changes its localization as part of the sensory mechanism that recognizes errors in spindle positioning. In collaboration with Knop (TP10) and Ruppert (Z1), the group will determine how Kin4 changes its localization upon stresses that induce microtubule defects, among others, and the role of cell polarity components in this process.
