Project Details
Flow velocity profile near a moving three-phase contact line (A06)
Subject Area
Statistical Physics, Nonlinear Dynamics, Complex Systems, Soft and Fluid Matter, Biological Physics
Term
since 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 265191195
The project experimentally determines flow profiles next to moving three-phase contact lines of droplets. In funding period 3, there is a particular focus on suspensions of practical relevance. Among other things, the influence of viscoelastic liquids on the flow profiles will be quantified. In addition, the interactions of liquids with non-spherical particles, e.g. rods or platelets, which occur in many practical applications, will be investigated. The findings will be used for the production of anisotropic coatings. In addition, the influence of de-formations of the substrate on the flow will be investigated.
