Project Details
Spatially resolved NMR for investigating fluid behavior on solid surfaces (A08)
Subject Area
Analytical Chemistry
Term
since 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 265191195
The project is developing NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) methods for measuring local concentration gradients at interfaces and in particular near the contact line. In terms of method development, the focus in funding period 3 is on testing and implementing RARE DTI (Rapid Acquisition with Relaxation Enhancement Diffusion Tensor Imaging) for measurements on binary droplets with small contact angles. In addition, experiments with ultra-short echo times are to be implemented in order to be able to investigate highly viscous mixtures (UV-curing inks or gels). Another focus is on the observation of condensation processes and the investigation of communication between neighboring droplets.
