Project Details
Forced Wetting of Surfaces by Gravure Printing Cylinders (C01)
Subject Area
Engineering Design, Machine Elements, Product Development
Term
since 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 265191195
C01 investigates the wetting and dewetting in gravure printing. It focuses on the study of influencing factors on the characteristic dot and lamella splitting, which determine the printing result and pattern formation. The focus here is on the shear-thinning behavior of the fluid, temperature differences between the gravure plate, fluid and substrate, and the role of the gas phase. A further goal is to better understand the flow and wet-ting in the doctor blade chamber in order to optimize the printing process and prevent the inclusion of gas bubbles. Together with A06 flow profiles and with A01 the film formation will be analyzed and simulated with B04.
