Project Details
Multiscale investigations of boiling of complex fluids on complex surfaces (C02)
Subject Area
Technical Thermodynamics
Term
since 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 265191195
The project investigates nucleate pool bubble, which is largely determined by wetting and dewetting processes. In funding period 3, investigations will be carried out with complex fluids and surfaces. With regard to higher heat transfer coefficients and higher critical heat fluxes, the aim is to derive basic design information that allows recommendations to be made on fluid-wall pairing and the geometric structuring of the substrates. In order to be able to investigate many structures, improved methods for applying such structures to metallic and IR-transparent heaters must be developed. On the fluid side, mixtures (including water/butanol) and so-called self-rewetting fluids are to be used.
