Dynamics of topological and correlated states of matter (C04)
Subject Area

The dynamical control of correlated and topological matter, and the investigation of novel effects in systems far from thermal equilibrium, are the central topics of project C04. This concerns three main lines of research: (i) We will identify and characterize universality classes of gapless phases and phase transitions far from equilibrium. We consider the influence of currents and of fast or slow drive. (ii) We will study weakly pumped systems, where a weak breaking of conservation laws places such systems far from equilibrium, and may create large heat, spin or charge currents. (iii) We will investigate non-equilibrium manipulation and control of topological excitations such as magnetic skyrmions, one goal being to achieve spin pumping.
