Project Details
Laser deep alloying for the realization of finely graded alloys (U02)
Subject Area
Metallurgical, Thermal and Thermomechanical Treatment of Materials
Term
from 2016 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 276397488
Finely graded alloy compositions with homogenous distribution are in-situ generated via laser powder bed fusion to produce homogenous parts with a highly flexible alloy variety for each part in a high throughput method using the same base powder material. The laser deep alloying method is transferred to a powder substrate as a three-stage process with a flexible deposition of alloying elements, their surface consolidation and subsequent deep alloying process for homogenization. The main mechanisms influencing the part homogeneity are to be predicted based on flow simulations and validated with experimental data.
