Project Details
Detecting and engineering non-classical quantum many-body states of polar molecules (A03)
Subject Area
Optics, Quantum Optics and Physics of Atoms, Molecules and Plasmas
Term
since 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 274200144
Polar molecules in optical lattices offer exciting possibilities for quantum simulation and quantum metrology. Within the upcoming funding period, we will combine our already available quantum gases of bosonic NaK molecules with high resolution in-situ imaging in the lattices to simulate spin models with anisotropic long-range dipole-dipole interactions. We will be interested together with A04 in the intriguing transport and many-body localization properties of rotational excitations resulting from the interplay between dipolar interactions and disorder. This project directly contributes to the DQ-mat core goal of exploring many-body physics.
