The applied project aims at the compilation of a theological dictionary in three volumes regarding both the Hebrew and Aramaic texts of Qumran. The ThWQ is a project of fundamental research, which ought to mark the beginning of a new phase of Qumran-research on the basis of the just now completed edition of all Qumran-texts, namely the formulation of the theological message of this writings of the 4th cent. B.C - 1st cent. A.D. The task is the analysis and presentation of the semantics of the lexemes in all Qumrantexts, their shiftings, extensions and limitations. The components for a Theology of the Qumrantexts in the time of intertestamental literature will be prepared by individual analyses of nearly 1000 lexemes. At the same time the project accomplishes an important preparatory work for a history of theology and literature of the so-called intertestamental time. The intended work has its position in an intermediate place important for Hebrew Bible and New Testament scholars as well as for Jewish studies. On the one hand the OT-reception in the Judaism of that time is to be portrayed and on the other hand the religious and cultural basis for Early Christianity, other considerable apocalyptical streamings in Judaism and rabbinic Judaism are to be articulated.
