Project Details
Macroscopically delocalised quantum states of matter (B07)
Subject Area
Optics, Quantum Optics and Physics of Atoms, Molecules and Plasmas
Term
since 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 274200144
Project B07 will create and investigate interferometers with macroscopic wave functions, that are delocalised over metres and persist over seconds. Their unprecedented sensitivities allow for testing the superposition principle with coherent or entangled matter together with A02 and sensing effects of post-Newtonian gravity together with B09. The necessary methods for exceeding state-of-the-art in designing atomic quantum states as well as the coherent momentum transfer and interferometer topologies will be developed in close cooperation with A05. These advances contribute to DQ-mat’s goal of enhancing quantum sensors and metrology for testing fundamental physics.
