Project Details
Correlative study towards experimental validation of the high throughput methodology (S02)
Subject Area
Metallurgical, Thermal and Thermomechanical Treatment of Materials
Term
from 2016 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 276397488
In this subproject, sampling points will be generated, i.e. various alloys will be cast and mechanically tested. Furthermore, A new microdescriptor ‘processability’ will be established. This allows determining in a high-throughput methodology whether a material is suitable for processing by Laser Powder Bed Melting (LBM) and which process parameters are optimal. The methodology is applied to the development of new Al-base alloys as alternatives to established alloys with high hot cracking susceptibility and low recyclability. The mechanical properties of the alloys are tested and their microstructure is analysed by high-resolution microscopy (APT).
