Project Details
Development of integrative design methods and computer-based tools for adaptive structures and their reconfiguration (A02)
Subject Area
Structural Engineering, Building Informatics and Construction Operation
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 279064222
Project A02 focuses on the development of integrative design processes and computational design tools and thus represents the link to the domain of architectural design. The aim is to enable architects from the start to incorporate the complex technical requirements inherent in the design of adaptive buildings to be compatible with the utmost creativity. This constitutes an essential prerequisite for the future application of the research results of the SFB 1244 in architectural practice. In funding phase 2, ongoing research on the early design space exploration of genuinely adaptive structures will be intensified both in terms of scope and depth; as well as extended beyond the initial completion of adaptive buildings in order to investigate and eventually facilitate their future reconfiguration (i.e. struc-tural and architectural adaptation).
