In lieu of the increasing climatic stresses on urban structures in terms of extreme heat and precipitation, C01 investigates the potentials of lightweight, adaptive building skins to improve climate resilience and climate regulation for interior and exterior applications, thus addressing one of the focal points of the second funding period. The expertise of IFB in the field of lightweight, kinematically adaptive folding structures will be combined with the design and construction competences of ILEK for the conception of adaptive, textile and foil-based facade systems. The goals are the development of an innovative multifunctional adaptive facade, whose micro- and room climatic performance will radically revolutionize the functionality of building facades, and prototype demonstration on one floor of the demonstrator highrise.
