Final Report Abstract
This project focuses on the development of cost-effective and optimal design and deployment strategies for wireless sensor networks. In order to address the limitation of sensors with low-energy capacity, we explore novel algorithms and innovative transmission schemes to achieve fast and energy-efficient performance in applications such as channel estimation and target detection. Energy harvesting techniques are also explored to further extend the sensors’ lifetime. Furthermore, the performance and energy cost of the network are dependent on the relative position of the transmitter and receiver. Given the sensor positions, an optimal receiver positioning is proposed.
