Project Details
Molecular and mechanistic basis for spatiotemporal organization of polar and lateral flagella (P12)
Subject Area
Metabolism, Biochemistry and Genetics of Microorganisms
Term
from 2017 to 2021
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 269423233
The mechanisms underlying the spatiotemporal control of polar flagellation in bacteria are still mostly unclear. In many species, flagellation patterns are governed by two interacting proteins, FlhF and FlhG. In the proposed project we will, in collaboration with other groups within this consortium, further determine how FlhG functions as a molecular counter to regulate flagellar number, how FlhF targets flagella synthesis to the appropriate cell pole, and how organization of polar cell processes is regulated.
