D01 aims to develop novel cryogenic detectors to search for dark matter particles with sub-GeV masses with the long-term goal to reach the so-called neutrino floor. During the first funding period, the sensors exhibited unprecedented performances, though limited by an unexpected event rate at energies below 200 eV. We propose to scrutinize and overcome this limitation with a targeted detector development program, comprehensive material screening, and complemented by MC simulations to develop a background model down to sub-keV energies.
