The present proposal is for an extension of my funding in the Emmy Noether Programme to a sixth year. The scientific focus of my Emmy Noether group is the design of quantum systems exhibiting novel states of matter, the exploration of their properties, and the proposal of novel quantum applications using the designed states. For year six, I propose three new workpackages. Those are dedicated to the analysis of open Chern systems, the microscopic description of strain in the material ZrTe5, and the modelling of transport experiments in strained ZrTe5.
