Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 287022738
To fulfill the requirements of future electromagnetic measurement systems in the THz regime, a reference source with a so-far unreached combination of phase noise, bandwidth, and chirp linearity is necessary. Therefore, this project is concerned with the research on a corresponding reference chirp synthesizer in the microwave regime. This includes the unique combination of sapphire and yttrium-iron-garnet based oscillators, PLL concepts to minimize or even omit an in-loop frequency division, a dual-loop control of the yttrium-iron-garnet oscillator, a very fast modulation of frequency division factors, as well as compensation of deterministic chirp nonlinearities.
