In the 2nd phase of C06, the photonic QTDS THz spectroscopy and imaging system developed in the 1st phase will be extended to a coherent multi-transceiver system. This aim is to provide an integrated coherent photonic multi-transceiver THz system operating between 0.2–2 THz for mobile material characterization in reflection mode and for in-room distances. A challenge is to coherently lock multiple photonic THz transceiver to a common photonic reference source in order to provide multiple datasets from a single object at different angles. Together with supervised machine learning techniques for THz signal processing, this will substantially improve MARIE’s ability to classify objects, and reliably characterize their material.
