Project Details
High-Speed Beamforming Concepts for THz Frequencies (S01)
Subject Area
Electronic Semiconductors, Components and Circuits, Integrated Systems, Sensor Technology, Theoretical Electrical Engineering
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 287022738
High-speed beamforming concepts are developed and optimized up to extremely wide bandwidths of up to 5 THz. The beamforming and measurement speed as well as the compactness of THz radar and spectroscopy systems shall be improved to enable mobile applications. Fundamental limitations of radar and spectroscopy systems due to phase noise of THz sources shall be analysed and concepts for reducing the effect of phase noise shall be elaborated. Besides theoretical investigations, also demonstration systems are realised which shall prove the basic principle of the elaborated concepts.
