Integration of effective heat treatment strategies into the production process of high-strength aluminum screws (T07#)

This project will focus on the integration of “precipitation engineering”, which includes forming in the solution annealed condition and a subsequent aging treatment, into the production process of aluminium screws. It aims on the development of a new processing strategy, which enables to make use of the shortened aging time and increased strength of the material, which can be achieved by precipitation engineering. The effect of an inhomogeneus and reversed deformation on the precipitation kinetics will be investigated in cooperation with the EJOT GmbH & Co. KG, starting with simplified experiments on single processing steps and leading to complex variations on the process chain.
