600 MHz Kernresonanzspektrometer mit Helium-gekühltem Probenkopf

Subject Area Molecular Chemistry
Term Funded in 2017
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 344336714

The liquid state NMR facility of the institute of organic chemistry is the only department in the natural science faculty providing measurement time for all departments. The existing NMR equipment in the institute of organic chemistry covers elucidation of most standard organic products provided by organic synthesis or extractions from natural products. Many natural products extracted from fungi or bacteria yield very low sample amounts which cannot be analyzed with the present instrumentation. The same is the case for the late stages of natural products synthesis, and library synthesis, where only small sample quantities are available. In particular 13C-related spectra can be barely measured for these samples. A new 600 MHz spectrometer with a 13C-sensitive cryo-probe multiplies the carbon sensitivity very significantly. In north Germany no comparable instrument exists at a research centre. Analysis of samples will be possible, which could not be elucidated so far and the work load on the other NMR spectrometers (in particular the existing 500 MHz) will be reduced. Groups of Prof. Cox, Butenschön, Kalesse, Kirschning, Plettenburg and Berger working at different institutes at the Leibniz Universität Hannover and Prof. Schulz at the Technische Universität Braunschweig as well as Prof. Brönstrup and Stadler at the centre for infection research Braunschweig will benefit from the new NMR 600 MHz instrumentation in Hannover.
