The research goal of this project is the theoretical development of new and the improvement of existing laser-based devices to prepare and control single-atom and many-atom internal and translational states. Especially, this includes applications and improvements of the atom diode (a laser-based device that lets the atom pass solely in one direction) and devices for velocity selection.
