Project Details
Multiscale modeling and simulation of the material behavior of thermal spray coatings (B06)
Subject Area
Materials Engineering
Term
from 2007 to 2015
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 16071898
The main goal of this research project is the prediction of the residual stresses and thermo-mechanical properties of thermally sprayed coatings during the coating process based on micro and macro scale models. We therefore develop a thermodynamically consistent homogenised softening material model by means of 3D-microstructure meshes and simulations. The results form the basis for a new simulation tool that leads to an efficient path planning, process optimisation and contributes to the optimisation of the coating properties.
