Characterisation of electrically-stimulated nano-spots on diamond for electrochemical sensing

Fachliche Zuordnung Experimentelle Physik der kondensierten Materie
Förderung Förderung von 2007 bis 2009
Projektkennung Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Projektnummer 37067245

The aim of this continuation project is the identification and characterisation of nanosize spots on diamond surface created by local electrical discharge in liquid electrolytes, a technique which was developed in the first phase of this research. This novel technique allows to convert the diamond surface lattice structure into another form of carbon, and will possibly enable alloying with metal clusters formed from the solution by local plating. The task consists mainly of the study of the electronic and electrochemical properties of the fabricated nano-spots on single crystal diamond surface with respect to their potential application in bio/electrochemical sensing, like attachment of bio-molecules on one hand and the evaluation of the possibility to incorporate these nano-electrode patterns into nano-ChemFET structures.
