The aim of this research is to develop and manufacture fibre-based electrochemical transistors. Electrically conductive threads, coated with a conductive polymer, are processed in a warp and weft direction (crossing threads in an angle of 90°) in a textile fabric. At their crossing point, semiconductor materials are applied in a dot-like manner, so that an electrochemical transistor and thus a transistor node is formed. This allows switching operations being controllable from the outside. The development sets the basis for a future application in medical textile products. More precisely spoken, the development of an electronic textile structure is envisaged, which can stimulate the heart muscle at desired points and at certain intervals of time electrically and hence, supporting an insufficient heart (long-term vision for the upcoming 10-15 years).
