Inhomogeneous phases at high density (A03)

Subject Area Nuclear and Elementary Particle Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Relativity, Fields
Term since 2017
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 315477589

This project investigates moat regimes, inhomogeneous and color- superconducting phases. To this end we apply functional methods, i.e. the functional renormalization group and Dyson-Schwinger equations directly to QCD. We investigate the location of moat regimes in the QCD phase diagram and their experimental signatures. By stability analysis, we explore potential transitions to inhomogeneous phases in the low-temperature region of the phase diagram. Finally, we investigate the competition of color superconductivity with inhomogeneous chiral phases. Based on these studies, we aim at the determination of the equation of state for dense QCD from microscopic degrees of freedom.
