Hadronic excitations and spectral functions in the medium will study the change in the excitation spectrum which occur at temperatures and densities where the onset of chiral symmetry restoration and deconfinement changes the properties of hadronic excitations in the medium, as encoded in their spectral functions. We will study the in-medium modifications of hadronic spectral functions, employing analytic continuation of results from first-principles lattice-QCD simulations, as well as genuine real-time calculations based on classical-statistical field theory and the FRG, to obtain a comprehensive theoretical understanding of heavy- and light-flavor spectral functions and of the dynamic critical behavior of QCD.
