The aim is to elucidate the interactions between cells (osteoblasts, stem cells) and electrical stimulation in combination with innovative material scaffolds. Detailed investigations will focus on cell physiological processes at the cell-material interface in 2D and 3D cultures, the structural and piezoelectric properties of the material surface, and their influence on cell behaviour, including calcium signalling and protein translocation, which affect cell morphology. High-resolution scanning probe microscopy methods are combined with cell biological analyses to gain a thorough understanding of these complex interactions.
