Project Details
Electrically conductive and piezoelectric materials for multifunctional implants for bone and cartilage regeneration (B01)
Subject Area
Biomaterials
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 299150580
The project investigates electrically active biomaterials combined with innovative manufacturing processes to improve the treatment of bone and cartilage defects and make them attractive for applications in neural tissue. The focus is on the development of composite materials with increased angiogenic activity. Furthermore, biodegradable, conductive hydrogels with adjustable stiffness and self-polymerising properties that do not require toxic oxidants are to be developed. In addition, bioactive factors such as the controlled release of Mg2+ ions and hypoxia-inducing molecules are integrated.
