Project Details
Electro-physical stimulation of osseoinduction via alloplastic osteosynthesis system after ablative surgery in the mandible (C01)
Subject Area
Dentistry, Oral Surgery
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 299150580
Critical mandibular defects are stabilised with a specially developed, load-bearing implant system. This system features an integrated electrical stimulation unit to promote patient-specific bone regeneration. The healing process is monitored and dynamically adjusted using impedance-based feedback. The patient's stem cells are perfused directly into the bone substitute material, filling the defect and accelerating regeneration further. This strategy promotes new bone formation at the defect edges and the central defect core.
