Project Details
Controlling the reactivity of photocatalytic hydride species (C07)
Subject Area
Physical Chemistry of Molecules, Liquids and Interfaces, Biophysical Chemistry
Term
from 2017 to 2025
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 217133147
The project will focus on photo-electrocatalytic CO2 reduction without need for additional photosensitizers or photocathodes. The targeted methodology represents a novel approach to CO-selective catalysis by directly linking molecular photochemistry and cathodic reduction. The project will introduce a second catalyst generation, refine the photophysical and -chemical picture for light-driven CO2 activation by molecular hydrides, evaluate the thermochemical and kinetic basis for redox-mediated electrochemical multi-electron/multi-proton-reduction and develop photo-electocatalytic protocols.
