The aim of the project is to establish BiI3 as a novel 2D material. We will use different exfoliation techniques and characterize the resulting monolayers together with the partners in the CRC. This will be the basis to create BiI3 heterointerfaces. Additionally, we will create and characterize internal interfaces by intercalating organic guest molecules between the layers of bulk BiI3.
