Project Details
Interplay of spin-orbit coupling and magnetism in 2D materials (B07)
Subject Area
Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 314695032
The project will employ first-principles simulations, phenomenological modeling, and machine-learning tools to explore proximity-induced spin-orbit coupling and magnetism in large-scale graphene-based van der Waals heterostructures, including the effects of non-uniform strain expected to generate novel spin-orbit textures. We will also study electron spin dynamics and the superconducting diode effect in the presence of both spin-orbit and exchange couplings, making experimentally relevant predictions.
