Subject Area
Early Modern History
Term
from 2017 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 317232170
The sub-project investigates how invectivity shaped the early modern public sphere, its topics, arenas of discussion, and types of media. Building on the idea that invectivity had the potential to dynamize public communication, the next project phase will shift its focus on late sixteenth and early seventeenth century England and the Holy Roman Empire. Complementary studies on Ireland and the Netherlands will provide a comparative perspective.
