Project Details
Photoacids and bases as responsive elements in block copolymer nanostructures for uptake and transport (A03)
Subject Area
Preparatory and Physical Chemistry of Polymers
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 316213987
The project addresses triggered drug release by red / NIR light from new polymeric nanocontainers. To this end we research different block copolymer concepts to couple triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion to chemical reactivity of photoacids and photobases leading to drug release. Furthermore, based on polymers developed during the first funding period we will study the light-mediated formation and dissociation of interpolyelectrolyte complexes (IPECs) as another tool for drug transport and temporally controlled release.
